Hall of Honor
The Hall consists of people who have made a
great contribution to the sport of volleyball,
and who have also made a significant impact on myself and who I am as a person. These people are true honors,
and have all dedicated themselves to the game of Volleyball. You may not know it, but these people
"made" the game that you love so much.
The next time you step on the court, think of this group, because they are on
every court, where volleyball is being played, not only in spirit and in heart, but also encased in the game itself. Whether it be the format played
the rules used, or the enjoyment had, thanks to them, this game will be around for a lifetime.
These VOLUNTEERS, offered much of their lives to this sport, and have never
asked so much as a thank you, because they receive Thanks in every cheer, every point scored,
and every Serve the game has offered.
Thank You, for a love that will last a lifetime.

Glen
Davies
The first honoree, is my
grandfather, because he, of course, had the most impact on my life.
This doesn't mean that he lacks any credentials to be honored on this
page. Glen was the first person to be inducted into the Volleyball
Hall of Fame as an official, a feat not easily accomplished.
He was
the only official to be assigned to the first four Olympics, including
service in two Gold Medal Matches. Between 1961 and 1984, Glen
officiated in 24 consecutive USVBA/USAV Championships, and was selected as
the First Referee for seven Men's Open Finals, two Women's Open Finals,
and as a Second Referee in a Men's Open Finals, a feat that has never been
duplicated to this day. www.volleyhall.org/davies.html
Glen is responsible for the flight system used at National and Junior
events, and one of the most memorable things about Glen was his capability
to keep track of all of the brackets for the US Open Nationals, on a chalk
board. |
